Y7 trip to Canterbury Cathedral

Year 7 travelled to Canterbury Cathedral on Tuesday as part of their studies about Henry II and Thomas Becket. After we arrived, we went straight to the visitor centre for a 20 minute film about the history of the Cathedral. We then went on a tour of the Cathedral using a worksheet to find out answers about the structure and history of the Cathedral. The site of the martyrdom of Thomas Becket was of particular interest and the visit will be of assistance to Year 7 in their exams.
The weather was good enough to have lunch outside and there was just enough time for the all important visit to the gift shop.

Year 6 Geography trip to the River Cuckmere and Seven Sisters Country Park.

12 March 2020

Whilst the heavy rain did make the trip via Alfriston village a little tricky it also served to highlight the spectacular meanders and creeks of the River Cuckmere’s floodplain in the Spring sunshine and allow the ‘New Cut’ to be in full spate and speed along to the sea at low tide. As it did so the fast-flowing water actively undercut and eroded the shingle beach causing mini land or ‘shingle’ slides before our very eyes.
