Rose Hill School Brownies celebrate Burns Night

Rose Hill School is very proud of it's links with Brownies and the Scout movement due to ties with past pupil Robert Baden Powell after whom one of the school houses is named.

Brownies is a very popular club with a huge range of activities on offer. Most recently the girls celebrated Burns Night where they made paper thistles and tried haggis which they nearly all liked!

Year 2 visit to Tonbridge castle

26 January 2018

As part of Year 2’s topic ‘Turrets and Tiaras’ we visited Tonbridge Castle last week. It was a Motte and Bailey castle which has had a stone castle built on it since the 11th century. We explored the stone keep and learnt all about the features of a castle such as murder holes, the portcullis, arrow slits, and the Great Hall. We played some old castle games and climbed up the motte to keep a look out for any enemies! It was a fantastic trip, enjoyed by all.

Bede's Galactic Challenge

26 January 2018

Students from Years 7 & 8 took part in Bede’s School Galactic Challenge Day on Saturday 20 January. This is the third time the competition has been held and our participating students were excited about the brief they had received just 24 hours previously: they would be building a subterranean Martian research base in the year 2060. Our students were put into a company called Solaris along with students from three other schools. In total there were four competing companies totally just over one hundred year 7 & 8 students.  After a welcome speech from the Deputy Head of Bede’s the students were whisked off by Sixth Formers who were to act as their CEO for Solaris. The accompanying staff were told clearly that we were not to help in any way – the students were on their own!
