Gathering of Goblins 2019
During the summer holiday on Sunday 21 July, members of RHS Motorsport attended ‘The Gathering of Goblins’ at the iconic Goodwood racing circuit. It was the highlight in the 2019 Rose Hill Motorsport calendar and marked the largest meeting of Goblin racing cars with 83 teams taking part from across the country. We split into our 2 teams ‘Red Devils’ and ‘Blue Demons’ and both cars passed scrutineering with minimal adjustments leaving everyone ready for a fun and exciting day of racing. With a new motor in the blue car we saw a vast improvement in its overall speed performing well against our rivals and the red car. Each of the following events was completed by the teams – slalom, drag race, sprint, pit stop challenge and lap of champions. We were extremely pleased with the results especially the lap of champions in which we achieved 8th place for Red Devils and 15th for Blue Demons out of 83 cars from a national field. The most exciting part of the day happened when our car was coming to a skidding stop at the end of a drag race and suddenly the rear tyre burst with a loud bang! Fortunately, nobody was hurt and we had a spare. Many thanks to all the drivers, their parents for supporting and especially Mr Waller for helping manage the red team.
We would like to thank PCL, Cheesmur Building Contractors and Tonbridge Accident and Repair Centre for their fabulous sponsorship this year. If you or your company would like to sponsor RHS Motorsport for the new season please contact Mr Izzard, firstname.lastname@example.org

Whilst the heavy rain did make the trip via Alfriston village a little tricky it also served to highlight the spectacular meanders and creeks of the River Cuckmere’s floodplain in the Spring sunshine and allow the ‘New Cut’ to be in full spate and speed along to the sea at low tide. As it did so the fast-flowing water actively undercut and eroded the shingle beach causing mini land or ‘shingle’ slides before our very eyes.
