Year 7 and 8 Entry

Years 7 and 8 – a key time in your child’s education

Years 7 and 8 are an important time for pupils.  Not only do the final two years bridge the gap between the nurturing primary years and challenging secondary years, but they also equip your child for the next stage in their academic career.

Pupils are encouraged in all aspects of school life and flourish academically, personally, in sport and in the creative arts. During this time, they develop in confidence, self-belief and maturity and the school values their achievements, however small. With specialist teachers and small class sizes, each child has the opportunity to excel academically and play a key role in sport and the creative arts. A broad extra-curricular programme, from cookery to triathlon, enriches the children’s experience.

Rose Hill School has an excellent record of success and scholarships for academic work, sport, art and music are regularly won at 13+. Over the past ten years, all the 13+ Common Entrance candidates have achieved places at their first choice schools.   Rose Hill School has very strong relationships with both Independent and maintained senior schools and can give you personal and professional advice on the next stage of your child’s education.

"We cannot speak too highly of Rose Hill School and, in particular, the education and experience provided in Years 7 and 8. The quality of academic teaching and pastoral care is first rate and provided within a happy environment. Both our boys showed a marked improvement during Years 7 and 8 and achieved Common Entrance results well ahead of our expectations. The Head's advice on and connections with secondary schools was invaluable.” James Barnes

“As former parents we are in no doubt that Rose Hill School is a truly outstanding school with a fantastic team who are highly motivated. The positive attitude is infectious and we feel that it was a privilege for our son to have been at Rose Hill School. We thank the Head and all of the talented team.   Our son was awarded an arts scholarship to his senior school and we have just received his first term’s report which says: ‘There is always something special about Rose Hill Old Boys, and this student is no exception.’” Nick Earee
